This Acceptable Use Policy specifies the actions prohibited by BaTelNet to its users of its services and networks. BaTelNet reserves the right to modify the Policy at any time.

INDIRECT OR ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS OF THE POLICY, AND ACTUAL OR ATTEMPTED VIOLATIONS BY A THIRD PARTY ON BEHALF OF A BATELNET CUSTOMER OR CUSTOMER’S END USER, SHALL BE CONSIDERED VIOLATIONS OF THE POLICY BY SUCH CUSTOMER OR END USER.

 

 

 

The rationale behind an Acceptable Use Policy is to continue to provide quality service to our customers and to protect our customers and our resources.

This policy is presently being revised to accomodate the ever-changing technology and to better protect our Customers and our resources.

ILLEGAL USE:

BaTelNet’s Network may be used for lawful purposes only. Transmission, distribution or storage of any material in violation of any applicable law or regulation is prohibited. This includes, without limitation, material protected by copyright laws and intellectual property rights laws, and material that is obscene and defamatory and constitutes an illegal threat.

SYSTEMS AND NETWORK SECURITY:

Violations of system or network security are prohibited, and may result in criminal and civil liability. BaTelNet will investigate suspicious activities. BaTelNet will cooperate with law enforcement authorities if a criminal violation is suspected. The following are examples of system or network security violations:

Unauthorized access to or use of data, systems or networks, including any attempt to probe, scan or test the vulnerability of a system or network or to breach security or authentication measures without express authorization of the owner of the system or network.
Unauthorized attempts to execute programs requiring administrative privilege.
Unauthorized monitoring of data or traffic on any network or system without express authorization of the owner of the system or network.
Interference with service to any user, host or network including, without limitation, mail bombing, flooding, deliberate attempts to overload a system and broadcast attacks.
Forging of any TCP/IP packet header or any part of the header information in an email or a newsgroup posting.
EMAIL

BaTelNet restricts e-mail storage for personal dial-up accounts and conducts a quarterly purging of all e-mail accounts. BaTelNet asks that all of its users check "remove messages from server." Spamming is prohibited. If BaTelNet is "black listed" by any mail server, the account that caused the "black listing" will be terminated without any prior notification.

COMMERCIAL E-MAILS
Sending unsolicited commercial e-mail or "spamming" is prohibited. Using a BaTelNet email address to collect responses from unsolicited e-mail is prohibited. Our users shall not use another site's mail server to relay mail without the express permission of the site.

MAIL BOMBING
Sending very large volumes of unsolicited e-mail is prohibited.

HARRASSEMENT
Sending of threatening or harassing e-mail is prohibited.

NEWS
Newsgroup spamming:
Excessive cross posting, or posting of the same article repeatedly to various newsgroups is prohibited.

INTERNET RELAY CHAT (IRC)
The use of IRC bots is prohibited, as is the violation of any accepted policies on IRC servers. If BaTelNet is prohibited the use of any IRC server, the account that caused the prohibition will be terminated without any prior notification.

WEB PAGE DESIGN and WEB PAGE HOSTING
BaTelNet will NOT design nor host any web page that contains explicit, offensive, obscene, and defamatory material.
